Gilbert & Sullivan Unplugged
Pour the pirate sherry, braid the raven hair, polish up the handle of the big brass door, and celebrate Gilbert & Sullivan’s most beloved songs! Gilbert & Sullivan Unplugged has delighted audiences across the US with lovingly loopy renditions and joyfully irreverent excerpts from HMS Pinafore, The Mikado, and The Pirates of Penzance. Last seen at New York’s 54 Below, this isn’t your grandmother’s Gilbert & Sullivan!
Gilbert & Sullivan Unplugged, with arrangements by Matt Kahler will run August 21- September 23 in the John C. Court Cabaret. Subscriptions and single tickets are available online by clicking the buttons above or by calling the FST Box Office at 941-366-9000.
Gilbert & Sullivan Unplugged runs approximately 90 minutes with an intermission.

MARIO AIVAZIAN is an actor and musician. He has worked with the Hypocrites from coast to coast performing Pirates of Penzance, H.M.S. Pinafore, and The Mikado. At home, he's worked with Chicago Childrens' Theatre, Pride Films & Plays, and various amateur theatre and light opera companies. A South Florida native, he is happy to be back in the Sunshine State. He lives with his fiancee and cat in Chicago.
MATT KAHLER (Music Adaptor/Musical Director) is a Chicago-based actor and composer. He has traveled with The Hypocrites’ Gilbert & Sullivan Repertory to the Skirball Center, American Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Olney Theatre Center and Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Matt has arranged music for H.M.S Pinafore and Lost Highway, and has composed scores for Twelfth Night, Caucasian Chalk Circle, Romeo & Juliet. He recently co-adapted The Yeoman of the Guard for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where he also served as Associate Music Director. Chicago acting credits include: Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Victory Gardens, Steppenwolf Garage, The Hypocrites, Paramount, and Strange Tree (The Three Faces of Dr Crippen – Best Overall Play, 2014 New York International Fringe Festival) Television: “Chicago P.D.”
DANA SALEH OMAR is excited to make her FST debut. Omar’s recent credits include Amadeus at Theatreworks, Pirates of Penzance at the Pasadena Playhouse and NYU Skirball Center, Gilbert and Sullivan Unplugged at 54 Below, Kitty Hawk at the Adrienne Arsht Center in collaboration with The House, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane at People's Light Theatre, One Hundred Dresses at Chicago Children's Theatre, The Mikado and Pirates of Penzance in Rep at Olney Theatre, H.M.S. Pinafore at American Repertory Theatre and Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Mikado with The Hypocrites at American Repertory Theatre, Pirates of Penzance at American Repertory Theatre, All Our Tragic with The Hypocrites, Cabaret with The Hypocrites and was recently on “Chicago P.D.” on NBC.
SHAWN PFAUTSCH is excited to be making his Florida Studio Theatre debut. Regional credits include: The House’s Death & Harry Houdini and The Sparrow (Adrienne Arsht Center of Miami); The Hypocrites’ Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado and HMS Pinafore American Repertory (Boston), Actors Theatre of Louisville, Berkeley Repertory, Pasadena Playhouse, and Skirball Center (NYC); Hamlet, Henry IV, and The Seagull (Michigan Shakespeare Festival); South Pacific (Dallas Theatre Center). TV credits: "The Mob Doctor" (Fox); "Chicago Fire" (NBC).
LAUREN VOGEL is an American actress, comedy writer, and multi-instrumentalist. Regional Credits: 54 Below NYC, American Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Pasadena Playhouse, and The Olney Theatre Center. Lauren is an ensemble member with The Hypocrites, (All Our Tragic*Equity Jeff Award, Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, H.M.S. Pinafore, Johanna Faustus, etc.) Chicago credits: A Red Orchid Theatre, American Blues Theatre, Steppenwolf Garage, Trap Door Theatre, American Theatre Company's Core Series, Chicago Children's Theatre. For those who require additional assistance or handicap parking/drop off, please see the map below.
