The Recovery Project aims to transform the narrative surrounding the public health crisis of addiction in our country.

Through new play commissions, theatrical productions, and workshops, we aim to explore complex issues that have the power to inspire positive change, reshape public narratives, and break the stigma associated with seeking help—ultimately saving lives.

Through educational resources and a 'warm line,' we will empower and equip artists and arts organizations to take a leading role in eliminating the stigma surrounding addiction.

The White Chip

New York Times Critics Pick, The White Chip has been performed around the world as a catalyst for community conversation and connection.

Steven is on top of the world: he’s married, has good friends, and is steps away from his dream job running one of the hottest theatres in the country. He also happens to be an alcoholic spinning out of control. Follow his life from first sip to first love, critical hit to critical care, all the way to rock bottom, where he carves an unusual path to sobriety.

After the Florida production of The White Chip, we will launch a touring version of the production, presenting it at various rehab centers and the Recovery Pods in the Sarasota Jails.

Coming Soon

Playwright Commissions - January 2024
Our first commission will be an established playwright to write a new work focused on destigmatizing recovery.

Educational Video - January 2024
Thanks to technical grants from the Opioid Response Network and the dedication of multiple artists, we will be launching our first educational video on how performing arts organizations can establish Recovery-Friendly Workplaces.

Warm Line - March 2024
We are partnering with LightShare, an organization focused on creating affordable and transformative support for those with addiction disorders, to establish a 'warm line' for artists in the Sarasota/Manatee area. Artists facing challenges will be connected with healthcare professionals and subsequently linked to a peer-to-peer network of sober artists to assist them on their journey toward recovery.
