For Your Safety

At FST, your health and safety are our top priority. We have followed CDC guidelines from the beginning and will continue to do so. According to our most recent survey, 98% of our audience is fully vaccinated. However, we are also taking additional measures to further ensure the protection of our artists, staff, and patrons.

In light of the recent surge in COVID-19 infections due to the Delta variant, the CDC recommends that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear a mask when indoors in public spaces. As of August 30, FST is requiring that masks be worn when indoors at FST, including during performances. Masks may be removed when actively eating or drinking in our Green Room Café & Bar or at your table in our Cabaret theatres. Masks must otherwise be worn throughout performances.

Here is a list additional actions we’re taking to make sure your theatre experience is both safe and enjoyable.

• We have installed and are maintaining MERV13 filters, which are rated to trap virus carriers, on all of our campus A/C units.

• We have placed hand sanitizing stations throughout the theatre.

• Tables & chairs are sanitized between diners at our Green Room Café & Bar. All dishware is disinfected in our industrial dishwasher.

• Staff members are regularly disinfecting frequently touched surfaces: door knobs, railings, menus, elevator buttons, etc.

Updated Safety Protocols Beginning Sunday, September 26, 2021:

The arts and cultural organizations of Sarasota County comprise one of the three largest employment sectors of the community. An increasing number of patrons and artists are extremely uncomfortable participating without strong health and safety protocols in place. The failure to secure robust audiences or top artists puts these arts organizations in danger of once again closing their doors, jeopardizing thousands of jobs and millions of dollars that the arts infuse into the community each year.

In response to this situation and the current high community spread of the COVID-19 virus, Florida Studio Theatre is joining together with Asolo Repertory Theatre, Circus Arts Conservatory, The Hermitage Artist Retreat, Sarasota Ballet, Sarasota Opera, Sarasota Orchestra, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe to uniformly uphold robust health and safety protocols for the protection of the community, patrons, artists, and staff, and to maintain the economic stability of local arts institutions. Therefore, together with these eight other major arts organizations, we are uniformly implementing the following policy beginning Sunday, September 26, 2021:

  • All patrons aged 12 and older attending a performance indoors must show either:

    • A negative PCR COVID-19 test administered by a medical provider/official testing center no earlier than 72 hours before the time of their performance OR

    • A negative rapid antigen COVID-19 test administered by a medical provider/official testing center no earlier than 24 hours prior to the time of their performance. Home testing kit results will not be accepted for entry.

  • Both physical and electronic presentation of documents will be accepted. Photo identification must accompany the presentation of all documents.

  • If patrons prefer, CDC or other official vaccination record showing the patrons are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (at least 14 days since the final dose) may be voluntarily presented at the door as an acceptable alternative to negative COVID-19 test results.

  • All patrons regardless of vaccination or testing status, must wear masks over their nose and mouth at all times while inside FST venues, aside from when actively dining in FST's Green Room Cafe, Cabaret, or Bowne's Lab Restaurants.

Protocols will be revisited and may be revised based on CDC guidance and the evolving circumstances of the pandemic, including use of additional screening protocols. Please check back to this webpage for updates on FST protocols.
