FST Improv returns this fall to satisfy Sarasota’s comedy fix. With fan-favorite competitions, improvised musicals, and a murder mystery show with a new twist, you won’t want to miss what FST Improv is offering this season.
The season kicked off last month with FST’s classic competition show, Out of Bounds, playing now through November 26.
Two teams go head-to-head, battling it out with improv games, scenes, and stories in a showdown for the audience’s love, laughter, and applause. At the end of each night, it’s the audience that determines which team will be crowned the evening’s champion.
“The spirit of competition is fun and helps us sharpen our focus,” says returning cast member Sarah Durham. “But at the end of the day, we are all teammates.”
Up next is Treble in Paradise: A Winter Blunderland Musical designed to get audiences into the holiday spirit. With no script, no sheet music, and no idea what will happen next, the cast brings audiences everything they love about musicals: drama, high notes, and improvised choreography that would have Bob Fosse in tears.
“I’m a big musical theatre nerd,” confesses longtime FST Improv cast member Kevin Allen. “For me, musical improv is the most challenging style FST Improv does. Musical improv also gives us some of the biggest opportunities to really wow the audience, who cannot believe that every syllable we sing is made up on the spot.”
Then, beginning in December, FST Improv invites you into the world of film-noir with their murder mystery show, To Die For. Bear witness to a performance full of quirky suspects, wisecracking detectives, and abundant plot twists. At the end of each show, find out in real-time along with the cast…Whodunnit?
“I’m looking forward to bringing back To Die For for a two-month run,” says FST’s Director of Improv Will Luera. “From the different locations to the outrageous characters, our cast does a great job taking this show to the next level.”
Closing out 2022 is Resolution Rewind, a comedic look back at the past year.
Featuring a retrospective of the audience’s favorite games and sketches of the past twelve months, this show delivers big belly-laughs and a champagne toast before audiences head out to enjoy the fireworks and ring in the New Year.
