From Broadway to Florida Studio Theatre

December 18, 2022

Fun fact: The costumes featured in FST’s production of Something Rotten! are the very same ones used for the show’s 2017 Broadway national tour. With a 14-person cast, and 80 different characters, FST decided to rent the original Broadway costumes rather than build them from scratch for a production of this scale.

The Something Rotten! costume package includes more than 600 individual pieces with all the accoutrement — from collar ruffles and bustles to doublets and tailcoats. The collection also features more than 70 hats, a 36 x 24 x 8” trunk of buckles, jewelry, and buttons, and more than 100 different types of trim.

These costumes were designed by two-time Tony Award-winner Gregg Barnes, who also designed the costumes for Aladdin and Kinky Boots on Broadway.

Due to audience demand, Something Rotten! has been held over and is playing through January 14, 2023, in FST's Gompertz Theatre.
