Come celebrate the dog days of summer when FST unleashes Sylvia, A. R. Gurney’s hilarious canine fantasy about love and relationships.
After 22 years of marriage, Upper East Side empty-nesters Kate and Greg finally have time to work on their strained relationship. But when Greg brings home a flirtatious stray mutt, an unlikely love triangle develops as wife and dog vie for Greg’s attention. Played by an actress, this precocious, street-smart poodle/lab mix not only talks back when spoken to, but also quotes Homer and sings Cole Porter — making her a formidable “other woman” in one of the most unusual romantic triangles in the history of theater.
Katharine returns to FST after appearing in last year's Write A Play program. She is a recent graduate of Vassar College, where she studied psychology, literature, and drama. Favorite Vassar roles include Tilly (The Melancholy Play), Zillah (A Bright Room Called Day), and Lady Macbeth (Macbeth). Following graduation, Katharine spent two summers at the critically acclaimed Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival where she appeared as Lychorida in Pericles and Perdita in The Winter's Tale. This past spring she played Portia in Shakespeare & Co.'s tour of Julius Caesar, and this September she tackles Desdemona for Tennessee Shakespeare Co.'s production of Othello.
Most recently Warren starred as George Bernard Shaw in the Off Broadway/NY Premiere of Engaging Shaw [New York Times Critic’s Pick]. Having appeared in more than 175 productions to date, Warren’s extremely busy career on the regional circuit includes work at Actors Theatre of Louisville, Walnut St. Theatre, Goodspeed, Florida Stage, The Fulton, Orlando Shakespeare, Pioneer Theatre Co., Riverside Theatre, and Cape Playhouse. In recent seasons he has played leading roles in The Foreigner, A Little Night Music, Present Laughter, Opus, The Comedy of Errors, Moonlight and Magnolias, Dinner with Friends, The Full Monty, Sleuth, and Boeing-Boeing.
