Did you know that: Cristin Milioti, who originated in the role of Girl on Broadway, had never played the piano before auditioning for the role (Markéta Irglová is a professional musician, not an actor, and Girl is supposed to be a piano prodigy). She had to learn two songs, a classical piece and “The Hill,” in only ten days to convince producers to choose her over a bigger name for the part. Find more interesting facts about Once by clicking here.
Once was inspired by the independent Irish film which was made for under $150,000, was shot in 17 days, and went on to gross over $10,000,000, becoming a critically acclaimed international smash. Songwriters Hansard and Irglová have toured the world, performing songs from the Grammy-nominated soundtrack. Click here to read more about how Once evolved into an original Broadway experience.
