A Hub for Improvisational Excellence

Since its founding in 2001, FST’s resident improv team has become a cornerstone of Sarasota's cultural landscape, showcasing various improv disciplines that go beyond traditional formats.

Improv fosters creativity, spontaneity, and collaboration among performers, encouraging actors to think on their feet and resulting in performances that are uniquely crafted in the moment. No two shows are the same, offering audiences an opportunity to experience a fresh and engaging performance every show.

Running until November 30, Out of Bounds showcases friendly compitition. Two teams of improvisers engage in a series of fast-paced games and spontaneous scenes. This format not only highlights the talent of the performers but also invites audience participation in deciding the outcome of the show.

Opening December 7, Director’s Cut invites the audience to take an active role in shaping the stories presented on stage. From thrilling mysteries to heartwarming tales, the ensemble transforms audience suggestions into vivid realities, offering an unpredictable blend of laughter and drama.

It’s a Blunderful Life, an improvised holiday musical, plays for one night only on December 21. With no scripts or pre-determined scores, the cast creates spontaneous musical numbers and choreography, showcasing their skills in real time.

Before heading out to watch the Pineapple Drop, join FST Improv for Resolution Rewind. This comedic retrospective features audience favorite games and sketches from 2024. Share your highlights from the past year and celebrate with a champagne toast as we welcome in the New Year together. Two nights only—Dec. 28 and 31.
