MARKIS GALLASHAW is an Atlanta based actor & filmmaker. He’s been improvising since 2014 — beginning his journey training at iO Chicago to improve his writing, but fell in love with performing. He’s gone on to become main-cast at a few Atlanta theaters including, HighWire Comedy co., Village Theater, and now a Dad’s Garage Ensemble member. You’ll find him teaching, performing, and shooting around Atlanta, the country, and occasionally the world.
LESLIE JOHNSON is a multi-talented performer and creative professional with a rich background in acting, music, and broadcast media. A graduate of Clark Atlanta University, Leslie produced and hosted YA’DESTiNY, a music and entertainment television program where she interviewed major artists such as Ms. Lauryn Hill, Chaka Khan, and the T.I. (Tip Harris).
Leslie’s artistic journey is rooted in music, where she honed her skills in songwriting, freestyle rap, and musical improvisation as part of several groups, including the rap duo The BlackWhole. Her love of performance and connection to live audiences eventually led her to the world of improv comedy.
Since 2019, Leslie has been an Ensemble Cast Member at Dad’s Garage Theatre in Atlanta, one of the Southeast’s premier improv theaters. At Dad’s Garage, she has performed in hundreds of shows ranging from fast-paced improv formats to full-length scripted productions. She has shared the stage with celebrity guests including Jack McBrayer (30 Rock), Jerry O’Connell (Stand By Me, Billions), and Brett Gelman (Stranger Things, Fleabag), bringing her sharp wit and fearless creativity to every collaboration.
In addition to her work on stage, Leslie is an accomplished actor and voice-over artist, with credits in television, film, and commercial projects for major networks and platforms such as Netflix, BET, FX, and National Geographic. Whether she’s improvising a scene, rapping over a beat, or performing on camera, Leslie brings a dynamic, vibrant energy and a deep sense of authenticity to every role.
Leslie’s work is driven by her passion for storytelling, connection, and the power of live performance.
MAGED ROUSHDI has been improvising in the Atlanta area since 2001 and has been with Dad’s Garage Theatre Company since 2016. As an ensemble member there he has worked on performing, teaching, and developing shows both at the theater and around the Atlanta Improv community. Currently he is the Education Director at Dad’s Garage. He has had the opportunity to perform with a great deal of talented individuals including Colin Mochrie, Phil Lamarr, Amber Nash, Scott Adsit, Mark Meer, Joe Bill, and more.
SWIFT RICE has been able to become an accomplished actor working on projects such as Outer Banks, The Outsider, Black Lightning, Atlanta, Bessie, Dear Evan Hanson and many more. Rice has currently leaned into creating his own path by starring in and producing the feature film “Generational Gap”. A romantic comedy about a recent divorcee trying to find his way back into dating. This is the first of a series of films that Mr. Rice plans to complete. Comedian, Actor, Teacher, Mentor, Producer, and now Filmmaker, Swift Rice is the true definition of...ART.
Festival Workshops
Our offerings allow you to learn from the experts with intimate trainings led by Festival artists from across the country and around the world. Featuring workshops in a wide range of improvisational styles and techniques, there is something for improvisers of all experience levels at the 2025 Sarasota Improv Festival. All workshops take place Saturday, July 19.
