TEDDEY BROWN joins FST for the third time. He first appeared in Smokey Joe’s Cafe on the Mainstage, and then A Brief History of White Music on the Cabaret stage, both in 1998. Afterwards, Teddey toured with A Brief History of White Music. Then he debuted in his first movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? starring George Clooney, Holly Hunter, John Goodman, and John Turturro, and directed and produced by the Coen Brothers, best known for films such as Raising Arizona and Fargo. Born, raised, and educated in New Haven, CT, Teddey dedicates all performances to his higher power, parents, family, Noelle & Lilly (RIP), & Dotti-Lou.
JANNIE JONES most recently performed at the Tony Award Winner Crossroads Theater in Another Chance. Prior to that she was in the European production of Hair as Dionne and was featured in The Buddy Holly Story at 7 Angels Theatre in Connecticut. She has received critical acclaim for her one-woman show My Castle’s Rockin’ as Alberta Hunter, Back to the Forties with the Boiler Sisters, Motown Cabaret right here at Florida Studio Theatre. Other regional credits include Don’t Bother Me I Can’t Cope, performed at the National Black Theater Festival and Stepping into Tomorrow with Yolanda King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King and Attallah Shabazz, daughter of Malcolm X. She currently resides in New York.
BARBARA D. MILLS, a native of Chester, PA, is pleased to be at the Florida Studio Theatre. Barbara was last seen with Essentially Ellington at the Prince Theatre. She also appeared in Spunk as the Blues Speak Woman and in Spain as a featured entertainer. Other credits include national and international companies of Ain’t Misbehavin, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Chicago, Roger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella as the Fairy Godmother, Body and Soul and The Goodbye Girl starring Donna McKecknie. Her TV/Film includes The Guiding Light, True Blue, The Grouch and RuPaul’s video Free to Be. All performances are dedicated to her father and family for their love and support and also to the memory of her dear and loving mother, Eunice C. Mills.
SUSAN SPAIN is very excited to be making her first appearance here at the Florida Studio Theatre, far away from her home in cold, cold New York City. Her most recent credits include Simon in Jesus Christ Superstar, the Dark Witch in Dark of the Moon (Off-Off-Broadway) and Alice’s Daughter in Big River. Other favorite roles include Dionne in Hair, Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors, and Keely in Keely and Du. She’s toured Europe in The Best of Broadway and the U.S. as Harriet Tubman in Freedom Train.
