Winning plays by young playwrightsPlay titles such as; "Tuna Trouble," "The Great Adventures of Spencer" and "What Is Love" represent the imagination and creativity of students who have submitted plays to Florida Studio Theatre’s Young Playwrights Festival, the culmination of the award-winning WRITE A PLAY Program.
Each day these plays are performed, by actors in a professional setting for students in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Tickets are also available to the general public for $6.

Matt Ebling is a New York based actor from Gainesville, FL. He graduated from Florida State University with a BFA in acting. Previous credits include Tim, in Rudy on Drums (Manhattan Theatre Festival), Richard, Duke of York in Richard III (Hudson Warehouse Theatre), and Gidger in The Violet Hour (FSU School of Theatre). He's very excited to be working with FST and to be back in the Sunshine State.
JOEY JAMES is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated with a BA in English from Claflin University in South Carolina where he was part of productions of Monsieur Baptiste the Con Man, A Soldier’s Play, Medea and The Little Shop of Horrors. The latter being one of his favorite roles. Joseph is grateful to God and his family for their continued support and is exited to begin his journey here at FST!
MAGGIE LANGLAIS is a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida in Orlando where she received degrees in both Theatre Studies and History. This is her first apprenticeship and she is very excited to be in Sarasota and to have an opportunity to learn such a variety of skills. Past credits include; Belinda Phipps-This Is How It Goes, Adele-Les Liaisons Dangereuses, April-Company, Frances Hunter-No Sex Please, We're British, and Gertrude McFuzz-Seussical the Musical.
KATELYN MCKELLEY graduated from Idaho State University in the spring of 2012, receiving high honors and an Honors Bachelor's Degree in Theatre, her emphasis being acting. She has performed in over 40 shows throughout her career thus far, from Shakespeare to Children's Readers' Theatre, Absurdist to Contemporary. She moved to New York City this past year to begin the long road of auditioning and was thrilled to hear about the FST program. She is very much excited to begin her work here and to learn as many different facets of professional theatre as possible.
EMERALD ROSE is excited to join the Florida Studio Theatre Family! She is a native Floridian. She Studied BFA Acting in NYC at Pace University and is happy to be back. Recent productions include Lawanda/Lala in The Colored Museum, Germaine in Picasso at the Lapin Agile and Orpheus in Eurydice.
ZACH SHOTWELL is originally from Colorado. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Acting from the University of Northern Colorado. After graduating he spent some time in Denver building his resume. Some favorite credits there include Bedroom Farce, and Equus. For the past two years he has been working in New York where he has had the opportunity to work on classical works like A Midsummer Night's Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, and Two Gentlemen of Verona. He is very excited for the opportunity to work as an Acting Apprentice at FST.
