EXCITING NEWS FOR WRITE A PLAY
Also this year, FST brought the WRITE A PLAY program to international classrooms in Kiryat Yam, Israel during the 2012-2013 season through a partnership with the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee. Through ongoing collaboration and communication, FST was able to foster international relationships as well as the emotional intelligence of students, as classrooms from around the world learned the creative process of writing a play together. By incorporating Safari Live, a web-based video-conferencing program, this will continue to provide an exciting and unique opportunity for children and educators in Sarasota and Kiryat Yam to communicate with one another through live broadcasts.

The WRITE A PLAY Program at Florida Studio Theatre is an in-school arts initiative, designed to inspire your students to be creative and to write plays. Hilarious and heartfelt, these poignant tales are a compilation of award-winning plays by young writers, just like your students, performed by a cast of professional actors. Past winners include everything from comedies like "The Adventures of Captain Captain" to dramas like "No War Can Tear Our Love Apart." These authentic stories contain lessons of life and purpose for us all.
Last year, over 55,000 youth participated in this dynamic award-winning program. This year FST received plays from over 4,000 young playwrights in the state of Florida and around the world for the Young Playwrights Festival, which takes place each spring culminating the program.
Florida Studio Theatre's WRITE A PLAY Program is currently celebrating 21 years of inspiring children from Kindergarten up through 12th Grade. The program offers students a three show subscription series for elementary schools in Sarasota and Manatee counties. It includes the Playmaker's Tour (in-class), The Frog Prince at FST and UNDER SIX (selected plays by students) at FST. We also offer a three show tour subscription and secondary WRITE A PLAY in-class workshops throughout Florida and the Southeastern United States.
“An outstanding job of providing REAL integration of the arts with the classroom. Thank you for being my partner in education!”
