Return to Hula Hoop Sha-Boop

Larry Deckel (Book and Musical Arrangements) survived the fifties and went on to spend twenty-five years directing at regional theatres from coast-to-coast.  During his ten years as Resident Director at Actors Theatre of Louisville, he directed over 100 new plays including premieres by Lee Blessing, John Patrick Shanley, Jane Martin and others. During his years as Resident Director at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, he devised, directed and co-wrote a number of musical reviews including A Gershwin Serenade, Psychedelic Sundae, and Hula Hoop Sha-Boop (revived at MRT for five productions.)  He has toured plays he has directed or written to Cluj-Napoca, Romania; Brno, Czechoslovakia; Warsaw, Poland and San Jose, Costa Rica. He now exploits his love for rock and roll playing keyboards in a handful of California-based rock bands, and produces large-scale community events while working with non-profits in all fifty states to facilitate civic engagement and service. Vince diMura (Music Director) Jazz pianist/composer Vince DiMura has performed on concert stages throughout North America, Canada, and Latin America. His first two commercially released CD’s, “Imperfect Balance” and “A Darker Shade of Romance” are available at iTunes.com and CDBaby.com. Mr. DiMura holds fellowships from Meet the Composer, The Puffin Cultural Foundation, New Jersey State Council on the Arts and The Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation.  He has conducted seasons at The Bethesda Nederlander Theatre, The Augusta Barn Theatre, Artpark, Tennessee Repertory Company, The Asolo, American Stage, The Arden Theatre Company, Flat Rock Playhouse, Western Michigan’s Cherry County Playhouse, The Barter Theatre, Arkansas Repertory Company and The Muhlenberg Summer Theatre Festival. Mr. DiMura has fulfilled commissions for Rutgers, Princeton, and Rider Universities, The Scioto Society, Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis, and a host of theatre scores for People’s Light and Theatre Company.  He is best known for his arrangements of My Way: A Sinatra Cabaret and I Left My Heart: A Tribute to the Music of Tony Bennett; both revues are licensed by Summer Wind Productions and have had over 300 productions nation wide since 2001.

Kerri BrackinKerri Brackin (Suzie) National tour: Hairspray (Amber/Penny US) with Vedra Chandler. Favorite roles include Sally in YAGM Charlie Brown, Ado Annie in Oklahoma, June in Gypsy. Regional shows include The Goodbye Girl (Lucy), Annie (Annie), The Secret Garden, and Evita. Kerri received a BA from the University of Oklahoma, attended OU Law School, and just graduated from PACE University with a master’s degree in psychology. Kerri is delighted to be Hula Hooping at FST!

Allison CoutureAllison Couture (Paula) Allie is thrilled to be making her Florida Studio Theatre debut.  Recent regional credits include Patty Simcox in Grease (Westchester Broadway Theater), Gloria in Thoroughly Modern Millie (Cape Playhouse), and Connie in 1940’s Radio Hour (Arvada Center).  Other favorites include performances at Paper Mill Playhouse, Goodspeed Opera House, and at sea with Disney Cruise Lines.  Allie also works as a youth theater and dance instructor with organizations across the country.  Proud Actor’s Equity member.
